One installer that installs for your Windows user only, so no administrator password is needed. Setup then downloads the speech and language models it needs.

WINDOWS SMARTSCREEN

Windows may warn on first run.

Alpha installers are not yet signed with a Windows code-signing certificate, so SmartScreen can show “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Only run an installer you downloaded from this page or the Phorminx GitHub releases.

AUTOMATIC UPDATES

Phorminx keeps itself current.

Phorminx checks for new releases once a day and installs only updates signed by the Phorminx release key. It never interrupts a dictation or meeting: choose Restart to update, or it updates the next time it restarts. To turn this off, open Settings → Updates and clear the automatic options.

FIRST SETUP

Ready in one guided run.

    Install the application

    Run the installer as your normal Windows user. Phorminx opens its setup window when installation finishes.

  2. 02

    Prepare everything

    Setup downloads verified speech models, installs Ollama with a small local language model, and adds Vulkan support if Windows needs it. Individual repair actions stay available in Setup.

  3. 03

    Choose a recognition mode

    Instant mode uses Vosk for resident recognition. Accurate mode uses Whisper and can use Vulkan acceleration on compatible systems.

  4. 04

    Set the shortcut

    The default shortcut opens the launcher. Settings lets you change the shortcut, appearance, models, translation, and retention preferences.
